How does hypnotherapy work?

Hypnotherapy helps you enter a deeply relaxed state, similar to daydreaming or being absorbed in a book or film. In this calm state, your mind becomes more open, making it easier to explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences stored in the subconscious. With the guidance of a hypnotherapist, you can uncover the root cause of an issue and gently work through it. Once the cause is identified, hypnotherapy uses positive suggestions and techniques to help shift unhelpful beliefs and replace them with more supportive, positive ones. Over time, this can help reduce symptoms and support lasting change. You can also learn self-hypnosis to practise in your own time, helping to reinforce the progress made during your sessions.

What can hypnotherapy help with?

Hypnotherapy is used to support a wide range of emotional, mental, and behavioural concerns. It’s often used alongside other types of therapy to help you feel relaxed and safe while exploring what may be holding you back.

Some common areas hypnotherapy can help with include:
Sleep problems
Weight management
Fears and phobias
Pain management
Anxiety and stress
Quitting smoking
Confidence, wellbeing, and personal growth

What hypnotherapy is not

You are always fully aware and in control during hypnotherapy. You cannot be made to do anything against your will, and you can come out of hypnosis at any time. Hypnotherapy is not about mind control or stage-style hypnosis.

*It is not possible to use hypnotherapy in cases of schizophrenia, epilepsy, psychosis and senility.
